Fairest Isle: Choral Music from Britain

A free, hour-long concert of music from the 20th century and our own time, including works by Bax, Ireland, Stanford and James Macmillan. Following our recital of French music at St George's, Bloomsbury, for a capacity audience last January, Pegasus is delighted to be returning to this beautiful church for another Sunday afternoon concert, this time presenting works by composers from the British Isles. Pegasus celebrates the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II with a programme of music written for coronations and other royal occasions, including Handel's "Zadok the priest", Mozart's "Coronation" mass, Purcell's and Parry's settings of "I was glad", and works by Morley, Weekes, Byrd, Gibbons, Vaughan Williams and Howells.
