J.S. Bach: Easter Oratorio

Saturday 21st April 2012 at 7:30 PM
Holy Trinity Church, Sloane Street, Sloane Square

Pegasus and the Linden Baroque Orchestra join forces for a concert featuring Bach’s rarely performed oratorio, composed for performance in Leipzig on Easter Sunday, 1725. The composer’s glorious first orchestral suite punctuates two settings of the joyful text “Singet dem Herrn” – a festive cantata accompanied by orchestra, and the dazzling motet for unaccompanied double choir. All are performed in one of London’s most beautiful 19th-century churches, the “cathedral of the Arts and Crafts movement”.
